too many quite a few blogs and other sites of interest to me every week. And sometimes I find things I just want to share! So I thought I’d try doing that on Fridays, and post a little list of the best things I’ve read and seen this week.
Let me know if you love it or hate it!
1. Gorgeous purple lavender was everywhere this week and I loved these posts from two favorite bloggers. Check out the pretty pictures of the Matanzas Creek winery/lavender farm from Centsational Girl, and
a lavender harvest at home from Laura at Finding Home.
2. We like to think that education comes first at our house, but does it really? Just how much households in the U.S. value intellectualism compared to the rest of the world is the subject of this article in The Daily Beast, well worth a quick read.
3. The Other Typist was my book club’s selection for this past month and I loved it. It’s been compared to The Talented Mr. Ripley, so if you like a slightly creepy, great tale with a twist, you might just like this book. Rumor has it it’s being made into a movie starring Keira Knightley.
4. Do you ever get a little overwhelmed with the sheer volume of texts, emails, and social media streams you’re getting? I do.
Email is the worst for me — trying to keep up with it is like running on a treadmill. But this article, from the unlikely source The Art of Manliness, gives the best tips I’ve found on taming the email beast.
Anyway, despite my occasional frustration with information overload, this morning a friend texted me this picture she took in Central Park:
Apparently my bird/nest fetish is pretty obvious, huh? But you’ve got to love that in under a minute you can share something you’ve seen with a friend who’s halfway across the country (or the world, for that matter). That’s my kind of sharing.
Hope you share a meal, a joke, a smile, or a beautiful day with someone you love this weekend. Enjoy!
